I have always believed a pilot who is backed up by a union is in a
better position to make decisions about safety that a pilot who can be
fired for insisting maintenance be done on a plane before flying it, or
for loading extra fuel on a plane when weather is questionable at a
destination airport, or when he or she becomes aware of unsafe practices
at an airline.
A few months ago, some of the members of this board have been distressed by comments by pilots who work for a non-union airline who took what I said personally. Some of their comments were the worst possible advertising for their airline.
One member of the board wrote, "Just like a physician, pharmacist, lawyer, a pilot is a profession which require a level of competence, skill, and IQ. Sadly, those non-union pilots that were posting did not display any of those characteristics and were quite frankly a disgrace to their profession."
Recently, some of the comments made months ago have reappeared on this board - almost word for word - posted by "william56". After board members complained about "william56" after a board member said he had had enough of him.
Someone emailed me as follows:
"That asshole (William56, Techlady) is back on the board. He/she now posting under the board name "Yuku." I posted a response. It has become really annoying to me. He/she is doing nothing to further the cause of making people feel safer about flying. Non-union scab no doubt."
So I checked the IP address for "YuKu and found "YuKu" has the same IP address as "william56". It is also the IP address of JetBlue pilot Dave English who has a web site at http://www.skygod.com/
