Is turbulence getting worse? Is it getting to be the new normal? I don't know, but one climate scientists has said that global warming is going to make turbulence greater. I wonder if that is already happening on a smaller scale.

But the questions that interest me more are these?
  • When there is turbulence, what meaning do you attach? Do you think it means something? Or do you think turbulence is just a random think kind of like how much surf there is at the beach, and being random, has no meaning.
  • Or, does it cause feelings that you associate with danger. If so, do you find yourself believing that since you feel this, there MUST be something wrong.
  • The amygdala releases stress hormones (unless you have neutralized it with the strengthening exercise) when there are bumps and drops. Do the feelings just mean the amygdala is doing its job, like a smoke alarm does its job and makes noise when it picks up toast burning? Or does it seem to mean that something MUST be wrong? Many anxious fliers tend to believe if they feel something, it must mean something, and further, if they feel afraid, there must be danger.
  • Do you think that turbulence is no threat for the plane or a threat to the plane?
  • If no threat, does turbulence become a problem because you try to keep unaware of the flight and turbulence keeps making you aware?
